Hello everyone,
I'm Emma Bannister, and I'm excited to introduce myself as the Sharks U18A-2 coach for next season. I'd like to share a bit about my background and my passion for hockey.
My journey in this sport has been unique and rewarding. I grew up playing boys' hockey at the AA level, starting with the Toronto Aces where I played a year up, followed by four years with the East Ender Ticats. This experience taught me resilience and honed my skills against tough competition.
Later, I transitioned to girls' hockey where I went on to play for the North York Storm and finished my playing days with the Toronto Aeros at the midget AA level. This diverse experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the game from different perspectives. Hockey has given me countless unforgettable memories especially through the incredible experience of traveling all over Europe to play for a high-level travel team. The thrill of competing in new countries, facing different styles of play, and bonding with teammates created moments that I’ll cherish forever. Beyond the game itself, hockey helped me build deep friendships that have lasted a lifetime, forming connections with people who share the same passion and commitment. These experiences have shaped me both as a player and as a person, leaving me with a lifetime of memories and lasting relationships.
Although my playing career has ended, my love for hockey continues to thrive through coaching. I've had the privilege of coaching at both the U18AA and junior levels, which has been incredibly rewarding. Currently, I'm a skills coach with Beast Athletics and Bob Acton Sports, a local company in the East end. These roles have allowed me to stay connected to the game while helping young players develop their abilities.
While I may be a young coach, I've gained a wealth of knowledge throughout my playing and coaching years. My coaching philosophy revolves around the belief that hockey is a true team sport where every practice and game is an opportunity for the entire team to grow and improve together. I believe that success on the ice comes when every player is committed to the collective goal, understanding that teamwork and communication are key to achieving it. Beyond hockey skills, I place a strong emphasis on character development, focusing on instilling important values such as respect, resilience, and sportsmanship. I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where players feel valued, encouraged to give their best, and have fun while playing the game they love. My goal is to inspire young girls and pass on the valuable lessons I've learned throughout my hockey journey.
I'm passionate about developing not just skilled players, but confident, team-oriented individuals who love the game as much as I do. I'm looking forward to working with each player, helping them improve their skills, and watching our team achieve our goals both on and off the ice. Shane Crymble

Hello Players and Parents,
My name is Jason Reddy. I am an experienced, dedicated, and passionate coach with a strong commitment to fostering athlete development both on and off the ice. With over 20 years of experience in sports and education, I am excited to pursue a coaching role with the Scarborough Sharks for the U18BB division in the 2025/2026 season. Holding a Master of Science in Education and a range of coaching certifications—including Coach 2, HTCP Trainer Level 1, and Respect In Sport Activity Leader—I bring a well-rounded skill set to the ice.
Throughout my coaching career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with various teams, including the Scarborough Sharks U15BB, Victoria Village Select, and Parkwoods Stars. As an assistant coach, I’ve helped set team goals, led on-ice drills, and guided players during games. I take great pride in fostering strong communication with both players and parents to ensure a cohesive and positive team environment. Whether coaching U15, U13, or younger divisions, I’ve focused on building a culture of trust, respect, and accountability.
As Head Coach for several youth teams, I’ve had the privilege of shaping team vision, developing player skills, and creating strategies that promote team growth. I believe in the importance of providing athletes with a supportive atmosphere where they can thrive, not just as hockey players but as individuals. By emphasizing teamwork, mutual respect, and strong work ethic, I aim to create a culture that supports individual growth while also fostering unity and collaboration among the entire team.
In addition to my on-ice coaching roles, my extensive experience as a teacher with the TDSB has allowed me to work in leadership roles in sports for over two decades, including coaching at the TDSSAA level. This experience has equipped me with valuable insight into how to build a positive and inclusive culture where athletes are motivated to work hard, persevere, and excel. My goal is always to provide athletes with the tools and mindset needed to succeed on the ice while developing valuable life skills that will serve them beyond the rink.Mike Budd
I am excited to lead the girls through many successes through the
upcoming season. I will bring out a former OHL coach, goalie
coach and other skills coaches to assist with player and team development. To improve individual skills, working
on team plays, and fostering a strong team bond.
The season plan
will be to attend at least three tournaments, preseason exhibition games,
regular season, playoffs and playdown games. I will hold practice sessions that
focus on developing fundamental hockey skills such as skating, puck handling,
shooting, and game strategies. Tailor drills to match the skill levels of your
players. Make use of available resources such as assistant coaches, former
players, and guest coaches to bring in expertise and provide diverse
perspectives on training and development. Emphasize the importance of teamwork,
sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials. Foster a
sense of unity and collaboration within the team.
I have been coaching or part of on-ice training in women's hockey for
the last 6 years. I am currently an assistant coach of the U15B Sharks. I am
also an AA coach and have coached at that level for 5 years. I look forward to
having a positive, competitive and hard-working team next year.
