Gihan Ramaniganthan

My name is Gihan Ramaniganthan and I’m very excited to be the U13BB/B Head Coach for the 2025/2026 season.  I’ve held different roles over the past 7 years with the Scarborough Ice Raiders and the Scarborough Sharks – ranging from Head Coach, Assistant Coach and practice support.  My passion is in seeing kids form new relationship, develop their hockey and skating abilities and hockey IQ - all through hard work at practices and games and developing connections with their teammates.

My focus for the upcoming year is to identify where each individual girl is on their hockey journey, focusing on the steps needed to help them individually progress to the next stage and move the team along the continuum.

I’m delighted to share these coaching responsibilities with our Assistant Coach, Braden Weir and Head of Power Skating and Skills, Bronwyn Brennan.

Braden Weir (Assistant Coach) – I’m excited to be part of the team as Assistant Coach for the 2025/26 season. I have two daughters who started in the “Little Sharks” program, and over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to various roles in house league, DS, and Rep hockey.

My coaching experience spans boys’ minor hockey, ball hockey, and as a snowboard instructor. I grew up playing minor hockey in Oshawa and later played Junior in Lakefield. These experiences allowed me to form lifelong friendships, travel to Europe in high school to compete, and continue playing hockey as an adult.

I’m looking forward to a fun and exciting season where I can help support the girls in developing their hockey skills, fostering a love for the game, and creating invaluable experiences on and off the ice.

Bronwyn Brennan (Head of Power Skating and Skills) – Bronwyn Brennan is the owner and director of Bronwyn Brennan Hockey Development, founded in 2023.  She is the primary instructor at BBHD, specializing in power-skating development.  She currently head coaches at the North York Storm for U18A and facilitates a number of development programs for both girls and boys hockey in the GTA.  Bronwyn played University hockey for the nationally ranked (#1 in Canada) University of Toronto woman’s varsity hockey program from 2019 – 2022. 

With the U13BB/B Scarborough Sharks, Bronwyn will be the Head of Power Skating and Skills and will generally lead one practice a week – focusing on further developing edge work and power skating skills.

Our goal for this season will be to create a team culture centered on excellence, hard work, while having fun -- recognizing that each of our girls individually bring a unique skillset to our team.×
